About the event
Item #10 on the Santa Clara County Board of Superviors Agenda for their in-person meeting on Tuesday April 16th sees the Board receiving a report on the current status of Reid Hillview Airport, unleaded fuel operations, and the option to plan for future use of the site.
The airport cannot even close until 2031 so why should public funds be directed towards any effort of developing the site when it cannot be used for seven years! Already the County has spent $2.4 million dollars on the airport's closure! These funds could have gone towards addressing the numerous issues that face our community, like improving infrastructure or giving aid to the homeless. Instead, the County continues to work towards eliminating a valuable asset! Airport Supporters worked tirelessly to drastically reduce airborne lead emissions from aircraft in Reid Hillview. The site offers so many exciting opportunities. It would be a shame to see tax payer dollars continue to go towards the destruction of an airport that gives so much opportunity, and has the potential to do even more.
Please attend this meeting, either virtually or in-person. Share your thoughts with the Board, and make sure to let thm know that any proposal to fund a Vision Plan for the development of Reid Hillview should not be entertained! Additionally, take the chance to speak on the value of the airport! We have lots of great resources on our website and Link Tree that can help you in your advocacy!
